This week, the Forsyth County Public Library
system announced new details about the upcom
ing grand reopening of its Sharon Forks Library
Branch.
According to a news release by the library sys
tem, the all-day reopening celebration will take
place on Saturday, March 24, and will feature
activities for all ages throughout the day.
“The wait is almost over for our patrons and
we're looking forward to celebrating our grand
reopening with the whole community,” said
Sharon Forks Library Branch Manager Mendy
Gunter. ;
The celebration will feature a performance by
Lambert High School’s string quintet, The Fab
Five, who will play from 10 a.m. to noon. The
group includes Lambert High School students,
Serena Gao, Rachel Zhou, Joey Jin, Minjae Kim
and Carson Tufts.
“The library has been such a big part of our
lives since elementary school == we-were-hon
ored to be part of such an amazing event for our
community,” Jin said.
Tufts said the group felt it was “awesome that
we get to combine two of our favorite things:
music and books. It should be a lot of fun.”
Gunter said that after the performance, the
event will have a flag raising ceremony led by
Cub Scout Pack 205, self-guided scavenger hunts
and staff-led tours through the renovated library,
a story time program from Mo Willems’
Elephant and Piggie books.
“We’ve missed seeing our youngest patrons in
our weekly story time programs, but we’ve been
working on new programming #deas and our
patrons are going to love what we’ve planned for

Teen, 15, allegedly shot man in November

At an arraignment Wednesday,
15-year-old Re’Deyon Hughes pleaded
not guilty to charges of murder and
aggravated assault stemming from a
November 2017 shooting.
Hughes, who appeared in Superior
Court of Judge David L. Dickinson for
the first time Wednesday morning, was
formally read his charges and entered

Man dies in north Forsyth wreck

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s
Office has released the name of a
Dawsonville man killed in a single
vehicle wreck in north Forsyth on
Monday evening.
According to a news release from
the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office,

may be scheduled for trial at a hearing
held April 20.
Hughes was arrested in late
November 2017 for the shooting death
of Dre Landon Brown, and has been
charged as an adult with alleged mur
der and two counts of aggravated
assault. :
