The North Forsyth
JROTC program now
has a new set of tro
phies to put on the shelf
after Raider National
Championships that
took place in south
Georgia over the week
end,
Raider Challenge, a
JROTC sporting compe
tition, pits teams of
cadets against one
another in a series of
high intensity time trial
events where teams run
up and down moun
tains, cross rivers on
ropes and work together
to carry or move heavy
objects,
According to
Gunnery Sgt, Jack
Snook, Marine instruc
tor at North Forsyth
High School, this is the
first year that female
teams have been
allowed to compete at
the national event, and
the North Forsyth
Raider Challenge Team
was able to sweep the
competition, earning
first and second in the
majority of events,
eventually placing first
in the nation.
Snook said that for
gnu he has been lob
yin{ the national event
to allow a female divi
sion, wanting those
cadets to receive recog
nition for their hard
work, and finally
enough was enough.

In the end, Snook

he said was huge for

After returning home

stating that the team

Berg was up to the challenge.
She co-founded, co-directed
and choreographed for six
years at Play on Players
Children's Theatre and previ

nies such as The Historic Holly
Theatre.
She chose “Fiddler on the
Roof” because it “has a very
strong and rich history,” Berg
said, “It is a story that is still
very relevant today,”
She said she is proud to have

road to get on the bus,
The driver, a 24-year-old
from Rochester, Ind., was
later arrested after it was
determined that she allegedly
ignored the bus’ stop arm and
external lights, according to a
press release from the Indiana
State Police, e
In April, the Forsyth County
Sheriff's Office and the
Forsyth County Schools part
nered for a new program to
discourage dangerous drivers
by placing 30 cameras and
work session, but Brumbalow said the
city needed to consider some safety
measures after the most recent incident.
Moving the stop bar back might give
drivers more sight distance for pedestri
ans, Brumbalow said, while eliminating
right-hand turns onto Hwy. 9 on a red
light could increase traffic,
“If people followed the law and the
signs, that would protect pedestrians,”
Brumbalow said.

this is the end of their
season, they are already

The powerful message asks
each audience member, “How
we can find a balance between
tradition, between what we

The cast devoted themselves
to pulling the audience into the
lives of the characters going
through real tragedies.
Davison felt that they had
achieved their goal through
“the feedback from the audi

detection software on various
school buses in the county.
Recent stats provided b{ the
Forsyth County Sheriff’s
Office show that since the
program’s inception, more

More than one-third of the
violations, 108, were recorded
by the cameras in May, the
first full month of the pro

relationships, dialects and
physicalities of each person on

Berg said students rehearsed
