By the UNITED STATES in CONGRESS assembled,
August 19, 1786.
ON a report of a Committee, to whom was referred a
letter from the Secretary for Foreign Affairs,
Resolved , That the Secretary for Foreign Affairs cause to
be made out separate lifts of the numbers, names, ami own
ers of the Negroes belonging to the citizens of each state, and
carried away by the Britith, in contravention of the late treaty
of peace, and that he transmit the said lifts to the Executives
vs the States to which they refpeftively belong.

Ordered,
THAT the Resolution ofCongrefs of the 19th of August
last, that relates to Negroes carried away by the Bri
ti(h, in contravention of the late treaty of peace, be publish
ed, and that all persons within this state, concerned therein,
be requested to make a return of all Slaves of the above de
feription to the Executive.

HE flatters himfelf that he is enabled to teach his pupils
to read, speak, and write that poliflied and polite
Language, in a method that will facilitate their prog refs mors
expeditiously than has heiherto been attempted. His method
is easy, and his exertions, he hopes, will be crowned with
success, at the advancement of his scholars in that uuivcrfaj
Tongue will be his principal aim and liudy.

their patronage, may rely on his exertions.
Every Scholar ought to be provided with a Grammar and
Di&ionary ; a quantity of which he expe&s in a short time
from Charleston for sale.
