In proof of their good faith and fineere inan itions to perform the before-mentioned articles, and for the I security of the inhabitants of the said state, the Indians agree I to leave in tiie hands of the Commilfioners five of their people* namely, Chuwocklie Mico, of the Cowetas j Cuchas Mico, of the Cuffitaws; Suckawockie* brother to the last named, also of'the Cuflitaws ; Eneathlocko, second man of the Broken Arrow; and fenautalecke, nephew of the head man of the Swaglos. The said Indians, during their stay among the white people* ftiall be provided with comfortable diet, lodg ing, and clothing, and be well treated in every other refpeft. E. C. IN COUNCIL, November 13, 1786. A Communication from the Board of Cominiffioners ap* ' pointed to treat with the Creek Indians, of the uthinlh wa« received and read : Whereupon Ordered , That the firft clause of a conferrence with the Commissioners, dated the sth day of Oftobcr last, together “ with the firft article of the report of their Board, dated the 7th day of the said month* and the firft above recited coramuni* cation be publilhed. i N COUNCIL, Oftober 5, 1786. The Board intered into a communication with the Com* missioners to treat with the Creek Indians, when the follow* ing matter was proposed : For three months pay for fifteen hundred men and Officers* BOARD Oft. 7, i;B<s. The Board having taken under consideration the edmmuni cation from the Honorable the Executive of the jth instant, do give the following opinion on the masters contained there in, to wit, “ For the three months pay sot the fifteen hundred men * and Officers,” It is the opinion of this Board, that no fpeciaf appropriation being made by the Afiembly for the payment of the Militia, and the uncertainty of there being a fufficiency of money for that purpose, make it neceflary-to defer that matter for the present. BOARD ofCOMMISSIONERS, Nov. n, 1786. The Board took into consideration the following clause of the communication of this day from the Honorable the Executive, viz. “ That.previous to a diftolution of the Board Os Commif “ fioners the Executive once more call the attention- of the “ Board to the recommending a sum adequate to the pay of “ the Officers and men that have been called out, and on “ aftual duty, agreeable to the resolution of the Legislature “ of the 4th day of August last past.” Whereupon the sense of the Board being taken, whether it is in the power of this Board to make the said recommen~ dation or not : It appeared that three, members were in the affirmative, and three in the negative ; therefore no division could be had thereon.
