AUGUSTA, Dec. 2. la COUNCIL, November 20, 178 6. A Communication from the States Secretary of this day was laid before the Board, which is as follows, viz. Agreeably to direCtieas from your Honorable Board of the 30th day of March last, I proceeded to Savannah, and have received the Books belonging to my Office that were detained in the county of Chatham; they were vefterday to be lodged I jn YVaynfborough, at a place I dire&ed, and I have Tent this I day one of my Clerks with a caravan, to remove them to their proper depofite. WHEREAS the objdfts contained in a communication 1 from the aforefaid Officer of the 13th day of March last past, I are now attained by a surrender and delivery of the Records, j mentioned in the said communication, to thfi proper Officer : 1 In consideration of the Law, and Resolve of thd Legiilature I made and provided in that case, being now complyed with, 1 the Executive feel a disposition to remove every order and I process directed in consequence thereof, and Oratr, That I the Attorney General be served with atopy of the before re -1 sited communication, and recommendation taken thereon. I On Tuefday last a whimlical bargain was struck between I two houfe-eaxpenrtrs in this town : One of them who had I long lived fupiemely happy in the enjoyment of a young and I virtuous wife, fuddtnly conceived liimfelf infeded with the I horned distemper, and in a.frantic mood dilpofed of his rib I toJus brother chip, together with a Negro Which was gi /eh I as a gratuity to his friend, for taking off his hands, what be I then conflicted a heavy burthen; ftveral gentlemen were ■ called in to fee the property formally delivered up, at which ■ ceremony it was observed by all present, that no rehnftance ■ wasihewn by the Lady to the transfer then about to be made ; ■in Ihort, the joy that sparkled in all their countenances was * ■ such, that it was difficult to fay, which of the three parties ■appeared the ranft elated.
