Fbe Farmer’s Wi(h.
THE things that, bring us true content,
Dear friend, are thefc : to pay no rent,
But plough your own (tho little) farm,
A homely house, tho’ fuug and warm,
Free from the hf ad-achy gouty and pbtbyjick
Going to law, or taking fhyjic ;
A faithful friendy to tell your mind to;
A loving damsel to be kind to;
No drinking bouts to heat; your head,
No cares to difeompofe your b.ed ;
But deep all night in peace and quiet ;
A model! garb and limple diet;
Well pleas’d to be just what you are,
And you enough of Fortune ftiare.
