The fubferiber will dil'pofe of by wholesale, the GOODS now remaining in the Public Store, On a Credit till January next , for Product , Paper Medium , and Pierce's Final Settlements . THEY consist of a neat and general aflortment of European Goods, with a quantity of Salt, Iron, Steel, and Callings. On Tuejday next wiil be opened at said Store, a Trunk of elegant Silks and Sattins. with a variety of Feathers, Lace, Ribbons, and Gloves, and fold very low for Specie or the Paper Medium. NOTIFICATION. WHEREAS the Legislature at their last Ses sion passed an Aft, requiring all persons entrusted with public monies in the course of the late war and since, to fettle their refpeftive ac counts with the Auditor; the following extraft from the said Aft is publilhed for the informat’on of alLperfons concerned, who are hereby required to attend the Auditor with their accounts and vouchers without delay, that final settlements may be made in conformity to the said Aft. Richmond County , May 19, 1787. “ Be't and it is hereby traded by the Reprejentati'ves of the Freemen of the State of Georgia iri General AJjtmbiy met , and by the authority of the Jame , That the Auditor be and he is hereby veiled with full power to colleft, audit, liquidate, adjust, and fettle the accounts of the late and present Trea surer or Treasurers of this slate ; the late and pre sent Commifiioner or Commifiioners of confifcated • estates ; the late or present Colleftor or Cclleftors of duties or imports ; the late and present Colleftor or Colleftors, Receiver or Receivers of public taxes in the refpeftive counties ; the late and pre sent Attorney General or Attorney Generals ; the late and present Sheriff or Sheriffs, and Clerk or Clerks of the refpeftive counties ; and the accounts of ail such other person or persons who have been 01 may be entrusted, or have or may become pof feft'ed of the monies, goods, or effefts of this state ; and in any case where it flrall appear that a balance of monies lhall be due by ?ny such person or per sons to this state, the Auditor lliall direst that pay ment thereof be made to the Treafuter of this state ; and the certificate of the said Auditor shall be conclusive evidence in gn aftion of debt, at the suit of the -state against any person 01 perlonstor the sums of money which such person or persons owe or may be indebted to the state, and no set off or deduction from the fame lliall be admitted. And be it further enadea by the authority afore faidy That it lhall and may be lawful for the said Auditor, as often as there lhall be occasion, to call before him by fubpoeua or summons, and in case of contempt to issue a writ of attachment in order to compel the appearance of any perl'on or persons who is or may be accountable, before the said Auditor, by virtue of this Aft, or who the said Auditor may reasonably suppose is or are capable of giving evidence or information concerning the said accounts or any of them ; and the said Auditor is hereby authorifed to examine, upon oath or affirmation, any person as a witness refpefting any such account, which oath or affirmation the said Auditor is hereby empowered to administer ; and in case any person or persons on whom such fub* ce na or summons lliall be served, being accountable before the said Auditor, lliall refufe to appear as in such writ lliall be expressed and directed, or having appeared before the laid Auditor lhall refufe or negleft to exhibtt his, her, or their account and attend the settlement thereof, or being summoned as a witness lhall negleft to appear before the said Auditor at the time and place appointed in and by such subpoena or summons, and lhall make default thereupon, or having appeared as aforefaid lhall refufe to make a full, disclosure of his, her, or their knowledge in the said Auditor, the said Au ditor may award an attachment, and commit such delinquent or delinquents to the nearest common goal, there to be holden till such person or persons lliall submit to the said Auditor, and comply with the direftions of this Aft; and all persons who lhall be summoned as witnesses by the said Auditor and every Sheriff, Coroner or other Officer to whom he lhall direst his writs or precepts as afore faid, lhall be allowed like fees for their attendance and services as witnesses summoned to appear in the Superior Courts of this state, and as Sheriffs, and other Officers are entliT* ■» t 0 * I courts, to be levied on the several the laid Auditor by warrant, i:j the like debts under ten pounds are And be it further enacted by the author it • r 1 faidy That if any person or persons who by of this Aft are or ihall be accountable bet, r ? said Auditor for any sum or sums of have been or may be advanced to or received"-® such person or perl’ons, or for any monies chattels or effefts which have or may comt ton’ll hands or potfeflion of such person" or perVp lhall for three months after the be tv ice ofVy I subpoena or luminous as aforefaid for such ijl son or persons to appear before the fojj tor, and exhibit and fettle his, her, or Vjj.B accounts as aforefaid, refule or negleft obey such subpoena, summons or demand comply with the direftions of this Aft, then* person and persons so refufmg or negleftiug jv s : |l| be liable to an aftion ©f debt or other aftioiut t!) | suit of the Hate for the whole of the sum and fun J 1 of money, goods, chattels, and effefts belong; J to the public, which he, die, or they ought t,I acc’ount for as aforefaid, before the laid Auditor 1 % and lhall be forever barred of fettling offany char?' RUN AWAY, about fix weeks ago, a Negro Fellow, named 808, of a black complexion, and strong made, upwards of thirty years of age, The said Fellow has lately been taken up at Col, Marbury’s Plantation, above the town of Augusta, and since made hisefcape ; as he is very artful and sensible, it is probable he will endeavour to go to-* wards the Indian nation.
