THE Members of LODGE CO
LU MB I A are required to meet
at the Academy , on Saturday the 2 7th
instant, at 10 o’clock, in order to
celebrate the Festival of St. John the
Evangelift* where the company of all
tianfient brethren is requested. The
• Lodge will go from thence to church
where a sermon suitable to the occa
sion will be preached. Dinner will
be served up at the house of Brother
Wamberfie.

comprehend the Englifli grammar,
writing and arithmetic) twenty (hil
lings sterling per quarter.
For younger fcoiars not prepared
for either of the above branches,
twelve (hillings and fix-pence ster
ling per quarter.

gusta agreeably to a Pi oclaination for that pur
pose, but not being a number fufiicient to
commence business; did recommend to the
Executive to make known their sentiments
refpeding the puurtual meeting of the next
Legillature:

Your Committee recommend as a check
on the Treasurer that the Aims of money and
refperttve denominations of claims against the
slate teceived iu the Treasury since the firft
instant, he made up to this day, and the a
motint thereof earned to his debt in the Au
ditor’;- books ; that in future the Treasurer
be tequired to give a certificate to any person
making a payment, which fball be iu the fol
lowing w-oret :
“ These ate to certify that
** has paid into the Treasury the sum of

“ you are authorifed to give a Receipt,”
Which said receipt fliall l»e valid agairft
the ftatc, and the Clerk of the Executiue lhall
file the ( erfficate of the Treasurer in his of.

monthly return of the fame to the Auditor,
