SMITH, Printer to the State •, EJays, Articles of Intelli gence, Advertisements, &c. will le gratefully received, and every kind of Printing performed. , ' • An Aft To amend and repeal certain clauses of 11 An Aft for regulating the trade , laying duties on all goods, wares, liquors, merchandize and Negroes imported into this jlate , and also an impofl on the tonnage of flipping, andfor other pur poses therein mentioned WHEREAS it is found from experience that the duties laid on goods,wares, liquors, merchandize, and negroes, and alio the import on the tonnage of shipping arriving within this rtate, is- iniufficient and inadequate to the purpoies intended by the said Aft. For remedy whrreof Be it enafted by the Reprpfen tatives of the Freemen of the State of Georgia , in General Ajftmbly mst, and by the authority of the fame , That from and after the parting of this Aft, the following duties shall be paid and levied for the life of this rtate upon all goods, wares, liquors, merchan dize, and negroes imported into any part of this rtate; and the following import on the tonnage of all vessels arriving within the fame, that is to fay, On every gallon of Jamaica and Windward Island rum, six pence. On every gallon of Taflia rum, four-pence. On every gallon of brandy, gin, arrack, cordials and liqueirs, fix-pence. \jn every gallon of molafles from any part of the Britifti do minions, two-pence. On every gallon of molafles from any other part ot the world, one penny half penny. On every gallon of beer, porter, ale, cyder, or perry imported in calks, three pence 5 unleis such article be the produce of any of the United States.
