TNE.. Franklin, is agent for the province
1 3 of Pennsylvania, being in England the
tune that the Parliament palled the ilamp-acf
for America, was frequently applied to by
the mmifiry for his opinion refpeCting the
operation of the faille, and allured them the
people of America would never submit to it.
The'afl was nevertheless pafied, and the event

arrived in England, the ministry again Cent
for the Doftor, to consult with him, and con
cluded with this proposition: that if the
Americans Would engage to pay for the da

BROUGHT to me feme time in
March last, a Negro man nam
ed Peter, fays he is of the Congo
Country, speaks very bad Frglilh,
about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7
inches high, and is very remarkable
by having his country marks on each
of his breast hones, and others down
along his bellv below his fiave!, and
has his left thumb crocked, which,
as he lavs, was done by a gun burst
ing in his hand when in his own
country.. Any person or persons
claiming the said Negro, by proving
his or her property, and applying to
me in Burke county, may have him
on paying charges.

A Proclamation.
WHEREAS a most flagiti
ous burglary and robbery
was committed, by feme person
or persons unknown,on the even
ing of Sunday the eight inflant,
in the store or- (hop of Jeremiah
Andrews, Jeweller, in the town
of Augusta; by breaking open
the laid store or shop and taking
and carrying from thence ifce fol
lowing articles, viz. Thirty-fix
pair paste shoe .buckles, eight
pair of them edged with gol *,
ihcvareftrong made, and coarle
cheapsj (even paste hat buckles *
and (even girdle ditto, gold edged
and (harp pointed at each end;'
Fifteen pair gold edged knee
buckles, large ftones,ftrong made;
Five pakdo. (mall ftones,covered
on top, with silver cheaps an*
gold prongs to f *ften them; five
pair do. small ftones,fiber che *ps
and gold prongs, one pair having
childrens cheaps in ; a lady’s g* Id
watch chain, broken up ; twenty
fix paste dock buckles; a heavy
doubleloon and guinea, neither
cut, and twelve dollars > fourteen
pair paste knee buckles; three pair
silver spurs, one of them jointed
in the neck ; eight pair silver (hoe ,
buckles, three pair of them large
pierced and plain, makers name

(lock do. of different patterns ; a
oarcel of gilt and composition

public notoriety, and the anjdavit
of the said Andrews, filed in t&e
office of the Secretary of the Exe
cutive. To the end, therefore,
that foch attrocity may be dilco
vered, punithed, and made an ex
ample Os, add reparation, if po(-
fible, procured for the differing
individual, 1 have thought fit,
upon the application of the laid
Andrews and by and with the
advice of the honorable the Jsxe
cutive Council, to issue this irrv
Proclamation, offering a Reward
of Fifty Pounds for apprehending
i the perion or penons con erneu
00 the said burglary and robbery
so that he, (he or they be con
victed thereof: And it is coot-,
manded to all Justices of the
Peace, Sheriffs and Constables, to
be aiding and assisting in the pre
mises.
Given under my Hand, and the Great
Seal of the jaid State, in the Council
Chamber, at Augufia, tbit /event eentb
day of February, in the year of our
Lord, one thou, and, jeven hundred and
eighty-nine ; and of our Sovereignly and
Independence the thirteenth.

HEREAS the Books that Mr. John
» DaVifon, deceased, kept for. Crook
/hanks Speers, and Croon/hanks & Co. wdre
afligned over to me oh the ill of May 17 89*
and alio received a full power of attoroty
trom the above concerns to recover the debt*,
due on the said Books, in payment of a debt
due me by the said Company, and b*ing in
formed that the deceased took specialties from
>he different people who Hand indebted on
the Books and as some of t]iem are withheld
from me; I give this notice, that no person
van be fafe in paying them to any other person

yet, (Vand open on the Books.
I now take the liberty to inform all persons
who (land indebted on the Lid Books, that
am about to place their accounts in the
hands of an Attorney, to be recovered asthd
law direds, as no further indulgence can be

ed was indebted on account of the above con.
cern, are desired to render in their accounts
properly attested to me.

Strayed or Stolen
F om the iubicriber, one White Mare
about 14 hands high, rather better,
branded on her hind quarter with
the letter T (he wa ks and trot:, sass,
has a blemish on one of her eyes,
and is about 7 years old. Also, a
Dark So reiHojfe , much about the
fame size, he has ho brand, is white
on his note, has one hind whitt;
and a small white spot on the fnuffle
joint of the fame leg* alto, fevera|
whit ' spots on his back.
If strayed, 1 will give Etghf Del
tars reward to any person returning
