Hymes one of the police force committed a brutal assault on a young colored woman named Annie Pouruelle on Tuesday night last. It seems that the young woman and some other parties were standing on the corner ol Farm and Pine streets between 10 and 11 o’clock when the policeman ordered them away at the same time pushing and kicking the woman in the abdomen from the effects of which it is likely she will die. Emancipation Day. The so lowing Order has been issued for the celebration of Emancipation Day: Head’qrs. First Batallion, 5 Georgia Volunteers, Colored, L Sivannah, Dc. 24, 1886. ) Gen’l Orders, No. 9. , The battailion will celebrate anniver faiy of the Emancipation Proclamation by a parade on Monday January 3. 1887, The line will be formed on South Br ad Street, right resting on Haber sham at 10 o’clock a. in., The colers will be escorted to the place of assembling by the Lone Star Cadets.
