An interesting feature of the occasion was nt the conclusion of his remarks onfiiendship, when Rev. Ellis turned to treasurer A K Desverney and. on be half of the members of the society, pre sented him with a handsome gold headed caue. The presentation was a complete surprise to Mr. Desverney who was ala great loss for a reply but managed, not withstanding his enn tion to-make his ac knowledgements to the members lor their valuable testimonial of their ap preciation of services to the society. Prof. Morse rendered some very ex cnlient music on the organ, and taken all in all the evening was very delight fully and sociably spent. You can have your watches cleaned at J. On Tuesday night the 11th instant St Stephens Episcopal church, . was the scene of a brilliant and fashionable marriage the contracting parties being Mr. Robert E. Pollard, son of our honored and esteemed fellow citizen Dr. William Pollard, and Miss Cleiander A. Tylor, the bridesmaids being Misses W C and I F Russell, attended by Messrs L M Pollard and A 'lylor. At 8 o’clock precis* ly the bridal procession entered tbe church to the strains of a grand wedding march. Rev. J J An drew, received them at the altar and in bis usual impressive manner performed the church ceremony and pronounced the young couple man aud wife accord ing to God’s holy ordinance. The bride *as most elegantly attired, the dress being cashmere with lace drapery on one side aud elaborately trimmed on the other with braided ornaments, the deli cate bridal veil flowing over the whole . After the marriage ceremony a rccep- Gon was held at the residence of the groom s father, where a large number piominent people repaired to offer t ' ir congratulations aud paitake of the V'-V n, a>»y excellent tilings prepared lor f OOc «ion.
