MYRTLE AND ARMENIA LODGES CELE-
BRATE THEIR NATALjDAY.—GRAND
STREET PARADB 350 MEN IN LINE.
SPEECH, ETC.
Tuesday last was an eventful day,
among the Brethren of the Odd Fellows
Fraternity in this city. The celebra
tion being the advent of the Order in
our city 12 years ago, in conjunction
with the 9th anniversary of Armenia
lodge. Myrtle, Armenia and Mt. Sier
lodges, met at their handsome brick
temple on Duffy street at two o'clock,
headed by the Oglethurpe Brass Band
they proceeded to the hall of Armour
lodge on Harris street, where they were
joined by the above lodge and the P G
M Council No. 60 and the Patriarchs
whence they continued their march
through the principal streets under
command of Albert Ashton, Esq., as
'rrand Marshal, passing the Tribune
office which we took as a compliment,
for which we tender our bow and
wishes for their still continued success.
As they marched through the streets,
their handsome bright regalias and
jieutlemanly appearance, was the subject
• favorable comment among those of
’Mr citizens who was not apprised of the
* t ‘ e progress that the order has made in
■ar city, and such criticism are well
•served, for no Order has made the
i dvances that these brethren have made
a l “ e P a «t 12 years. After the proces-
sion arrived at the hall it was dis
missed until evening when they would
again assemble to carry out the balance
of the programme.
At eight o’clock, having received an
invitation to be present —and knowing
a good thing when we see it—we were
promptly on hand. We found their
large and cap <ci >us temple illuminated
inside and outside with Chinese lan
terns, handsome flags decorating the
walls and the floors from Ist to 3rd
story filled to ovetflowing. Elbowing
our way as best we could we entered the
lodge room and the services began with
P N F., R N Rutledge as Master of
Devotion, and P N F„ G W Will iams
as Master of Ceremonies Bro. Miller,
F. Gibson was introduced as orator of
the occasion and his subject “The rise
and progress of Odd Fellowship.” Mr.
Gibson is ■ natural born orator and the
best of evidences is that he handled his
subject easy and in a familiar manner,
perfectly at home as it were with his
audience, portraying in chaste language
and eloquent diction. In his subject he
alluded to the great calamity that over
spread our city 11 years ago and how
this lodge then thus organised, battled
manfully to carry out its desired object
and the result is that 3 other lodges
have sprung into existence and carry
ing the banner of F. L. and T The
speaker made a striking illustration of
that friendship that should exist among
the fraternity by showing what it was
years ago io Damon and Pythias devo
tion of friendship to each other, and he
hoped the day was not distant, when
the same feeling will exist among our
selves After the address which was
enthusiastically received, the audience
repaired to the supper room, alter
which the enjoyment was continued
until past mid night when all retired to
their home well pleased with the days
proceedings.

Two years ago I had the worst
ulcer of my leg I ever saw. It had
eaten down to the bone, and my
whole leg below my knee and my
foot were swollen and inflamed*
The bone was swollen and painful,
and discharged a most offensive
matter, My physician said I had
necrosis of the bone, and my leg
would have to come off. At thia
stage I commenced to take P. P. P.
and bathe my leg with hot caetile
soap suds. It began to improve at
once and healed rapidly, and is to
day a sound and useful leg. I think
P. P. P. is all a man could ask as a
blood purifier, as I have known it to
cure sornj terrible cases of Syphilis
in a remarkable short time.
