A Sad Death.
We are pained to chronicle the death
of Anna the 13 years old daughter of
Col. and Mrs. J. II Deveaux, which
occurred on Wednesday the Bth instant
after an illness of several weeks. Little
Anna had been in failing health for
about a year but great hopes were en
tertained of her recovery until about a
week ago when her condition grew
alarming. She bore her suSerin<js like
a little Christian. Sitting in a rocking
chair at the window with her head
leaning on her hand her life departed
without a struggle - The parents have
received the sympathy of the cwirimuni
ty at the loss of such a bright and
promising child.
The funeral took place on Thursday
afternoon from St, Stephens church. At
the grave a society of young girls, but
ol which she was not a member, sung
beautiful hymns. The grave was cov
ered with floral decorations by loving
friends.

IN MEMORIAM.
All that was earthly of Anna E.
Deveaux was laid away on Thurs
day June 9, 1887. The Young Girls’
Christian Aid testified their appre
ciation by placing on the grave of
their little friend the floral designs :
1. Crown.
2. Wreath.
3. Pillow—with 3 corners, one
corner being cut off which repre
sented a broken column, with the
appropriate words inscribed “Our
Darling.”
Anna was everybody’s darling
and oh! how we will miss her with
her sweet and winning smiles. But
He, our Father took her and we
should not grieve for His will must
be done.
She was sinless, bearin" every ill,
Meek, fori Ivin gentle, mild,
Subject to her p ‘rents’ will,
Even as 11 sweet child.
Little sighs and little prayers,
Even 111 tie tears that fall.
Little hopes and little cares—
Saviour, Thou dost know them all.
She’s as free as the sunshine,
And fresh as the air, •
With plenty of gladness,
And beauty to spare.—
