A Handsome Testimonial.
Our old and esteemed friend and
fellow citizen Dr. W illiam Pollard,
was the recipient, this week, oi a
very handsome and costly present,
consisting of a silver tilting pitcher,
goblet and waiter, from Philip M.
Russell, |r. Esq., as a mark of friend
ship and esteem. The pitcher bears
the inscription;
*RUS : SELL to POLLARD, *
JUNE 26, ISB7, 1
* *
and was accompanied by a beauti
fully engrossed note handsomely
framed, which reads:
“Dr. William Pollard as a recogni
tion of. personal regard and appre
ciation of your friendship. I take
pleasure in -ending you.a pitcher,
goblet and waiter. The gift must
,p er ish—the sentiment which promp
ted its presentation can never die.
Accept it—use it on all occasions
and never part with it. Signed;
Philip Milton Russell.
The writing is a splendid piece of
penmanship and makes an elegant
picture. Dr. Pollard though taken
completely by surprise fully appreci
ates the present and the motives
which prompted the donor to bestow
it. The Doctor will observe the di
rections to use it, we know, because
we have seen it doing duty and
hope to see it at work again.
