from Atlanta attempted to commit sui

The teachers and children of East Broad
street school made their customary visit and
donations to the Infirmary on Thanksgiving
o a y. The present* consisted of baskets of fruit
oue dozen white bed spreads. 18 combs, one
dozen hair brushes, one dozen wash basins,
two dozen china plates and two dozen soap
bowls.

On Wednesday evening last Mr, Geo. F
Tyson. one of Savannah’s letters carriers
and Miss Wilhelmina Josephs were united
in the holy bonds of matrimony at the 2nd
Baptist church by Rev. A. Ellis. The bride
was beautifully and richly attired in white
satin, the brides maids also being handsome
ly and appropriately attired. A large num
of invited guests and acquaintances were
present at the church to do honor to the
occasion.

Death of John C. Richmond-
Mr. J. C. Richmond, h former
citizen of Savannah, but of late
vears a resident of Beaufort, S. C
died at Louisville, Ga.. on Monday
morning last after h brief illness.
His remains were brought to this
city on Wednesday evening and in
terred in Lmrel Grove Cemetery.
The deceased had a very large
number of friends in Savannah with
whom he was very popular. He
held several important offices in
Beaufort, where he was married.
Mr. Richmond was born in New
Bedford, Conn, tie leaves a wife
and two children who have the
deepest sympathy of our people in
their bereavement.

Officers of the Ist Battalion Geor

amble and resolutions were unani
mouslv adopted:
Whereas, Death has entered our midst

Soldier Capt M. J. Cummings of the ‘ Union
Lincoln Guards.” We humbly kneel to the
feet of the Great Giver of life, for He doeth
al l things well Therefore be it
Resolved, That in the death of Capt.
M J, Cummings, this battalion has met
with a severe loss as a soldier, ever prompt
in the discharge of his dutie-, and as a
citizen ever ready to promote the elevation
of his race. Peace to his ashe-.
Resolved. That we tender to his bereaved
family our sincere condolence in their sad
affliction.
Reso.ved. That a blank page in our
Minute Book be inscribe d to his memory
and a copy of these proceedings be sent to
his family.

Williams, chief cook, and Mr. Joshua Forbs of
the hospital force for their kindness to us dur
ing our stay in that city,
We also return thanks to the Lord for spar
ing the lives of all the patients that we waited
on. We regret to say that while together with
some white nurses applied at the city hotel for
accommodation and was refused on account of
color. We also return our thanks to Mr D H
McKay for a basket of choice refreshments on
