Mrs. Raglin Williams died at her
home on \\ aldurg and Cuyler streets on
Sunday morning last about 2 u Clock and
was buried on Monday, rfhe leaves a

Parish Aid to Tybee on Monday Aug

as this will be a fine opportunuy for
families to spend a splendid day. Music

Laid at Rest.
Mrs Sibbie Gibbs and aged and well
known lady died n Tue-diy morning la t
( after a brief ilh ets. She was found in
an uncoucious state on the preceding
Wednesday and remained in that con
i dition un’ii the time of her death. Mrs
■ Gibbs was born in Beaufort S. C.. but
; lived in Savannah from her childhood,
land was about 85 yeais of age She
was remaikable for her e< ergy and acti
; vity up to the time of her illness, and
! was notedtor her many good quaii
ties of heart which endeared her to all
of her acquaintances. She was a de
voted member of the First Bryan Bap
tist Church. The funeral of the de
ceased took place on Wednesday from
the residence of her nephew Mr. John
Bvleu on Taylor street,
Supreme Court Decision.
The Supreme c nirt of the State has
affirmed the decision of the Superior
c urt of this county in the case ol the
State vs. P liceman Burns, Burns ws
charged with the offence of assault and
batteiy on the person of Henry Burney
a driver for F. M, Hull, Esq,, was tri
ed and found guilty. The defendant
made an appeal to the Supreme court
which affirmed the decision of the court
below. Judge Bleekly in giving the
decision’ marked out some important
and salutary lessons to the members of
the police force, among which is the
following. “Insolence from a colored
prisoner to a white police is no excuse
for b ating the prisioner with a club
Policemen shall do right not less toward
one color than another, in so far as it
depends upon this court to administer
the rules of law to their conduct.”
