Mr. Editor:—You will please

County chairman to fill the vacan

confering the great and important
honor upon him. He whooped up
“united we stand, divided we fall.”
The former secretary S. M. Scarlet
was re-elected by acclamation. Hon.
W.W. Watson of Blackshear, deliv
ered a noble address; he said “stand
by the grand old Republican party
and protect the country.” He
said tiie only way to save the coun
try is to rally under Harrison and
Morton flag.
Harrison and Morton Club Wm
organized. H. S. Jones chairiu n,
S. L. Baker, secretary. L. Lane of
Blackshear, one of the leading Re

true to our party. He got so high
until he could hardly talk amidst
the applause and cheers. A vote
of thanks was tendered to Mr. Wat
son and Lane. Messrs. Anderson,
Jacksou, Joues, ail'd others made
warm speeches. Mr. L, Grays of
Waycross certainly saw that the

committee in sub district to hold
their convention and select dele
gates to attend the nomination to he

As this will be the year of jubilee, a
resolution was read by J- P. Boyd
and ordered spread on the minutes,
as follows:
W e the Republicans in mass
meeting do indorse the action of the
Chicago convention in nominating
Harrison and Morton as the Repub
lican candidates for President and
Vice-Presidents.
Rev. A. S Griffin did not forget
the the Tribune and said that it
was true Republican and we must
not forget it.
S. M. Scarlett.
Mr. Eeitor; Dear Sir:—Having
beard the remarks of Judge Adams
to the trio of desperadoes who as
sailed innocent old man Marion Hay
wood and Jeff Waters, 1 have con
cluded that Judge Adams and Solic
itor General dußiguon would be
able to bring about a reform in
many of the klu khix counties of
the State. Too much can not be
said by the colored people that
must of a necessity walk iate at
nights home to their bumble dwell
ings that skirts the city, carrying
their little all that they have toiled
for through much adversity, m
behalf of the able and eloquent
address of Solicitor dußiguon und
the earnest charge of Judge Adams
with his pointed remarks to the con
demned trio: Scott, Scales and Cros
by, when sentencing th«m. Such
administrations of the law can not
fail to carry a sense of re-assuring
protection to the minds of every
citizen that is blessed with the pri
vilege of living in this first judicial
circuit. We can but wish that the
good people of Georgia will recog
nize the service of Judge Adams
and reward him by promotion to
the supreme bench which he justly
merits. Yours Truly,
W. H Matthews.
