Y es, gentlemen, as elec* tions are managed in Georgia bv e your party, yon can “safely” place b it 100,000 or more, as a matter of a' taste, but in fact not the actual I* count. ir’ r Here is a gem for the colored k 'voters who are' asked to vote for 1 the Democratic ticket—it is from Judge Thurman’s Port Huran r speech; “The result of the war was I to free about 4 000,000 Negroes, 4 and they have since increased to a about 6,000,000, for the Negro is a v prolific animal.” The colored men >i may put that in their pipes, but <• the question is, will they smoke it w or make Thurman smoke? j The action of the democratic par -1 tj in Liberty county in attempting 1 to steal the seat in the Georgia Leg g islature from Judge Mclver the leg- P ally elected Republican member (> has bad the effect of preventing it Hon. HARRISON AND MORTON. Harrison and Morton should be elected because of what they are and what they represent. Harrison is a clean, pure, true man. So is Morton. Not a breath °f scandal has touched, or ean touch the character of either. If moral integrity in all the relations of life is an excellent thing in the Presi dent and Vice-President of a Chris tian nation, elect these men for the Bake of their example. Harrison is a man of strong and polished mind, intelligent convic tions and great firmness for the right. Morton has developed rare qualifications for the management of great interests in hi- magnificent business career. If these are qual ities eminently to be desired in the highest offices of the Republic, make sure of them by voting Har rison and Morton, Harrison has had experience in the affairs of the nation. He has proved his statesmanship by his rec ord in the Senate, and his patriot ism. by his devotion and heroism on the battle-field. His wortqy associ ate in tbit- campaign was a friend to the country when it needed friends If these things nre worthy of praise commend them by your ballot. Harrison and Morion are enrnes: advocates of a protective tariff. The doctrine of free trade they abhor as a conspiracy against the industrial commercial, financial and social in terests of the country. They hold th it protection is allied to patriot ism, and that the greatest good of di classes is promoted by its main 'eiiauce. If these views are sound vote for them Tuesday, DO THEY WANT HONEST ELECTIONS? The Morning News of this city io an editorial in its issue of Monday last propounded the following perti nent question; “Do they want bon est elections?” and in another sen tence it takes occasion ’to say that so far as the Democrats are concern ed they will do their part to secure elections of that sort. With what consistency can such an article be indited, and then too in a paper whica knows better th<n it speaks. The editor of the News is one of the commissioners of this county, and has the opportunity to afford an ‘‘hom-st election” if he desires. Effort * were made by the chair man of the Repu >lican party of this district io bring about that dc 'ii’td result; but the Chatham coun ty cointrifasiouers turned their backs on the <-fl rt. Capt. Pleasant, chair man of the county and Congression al committee made application to the board of commissioners asking that the Republicans be given rep resentation on the board of election Ou Tuesday, but the board to secure that “Honest and fair election”(?) refused to name one Republican. Twelve managers were appointed by them and all noted Democrats. Then how can we expect an honest and fair when one party manages the whole business them selves. The Republicans of Georgia have no chance for a fair election, the Morning News to the contrary not withstanding, and it is just as well for the people of this country to understand that elections in the South are a perfect farce. I he next house of Congress will have a 'good Republican working majority, Then our poor defrauded race can have some prospects of get tit g their treedtnan hank tnonev. aHEE ,o t:, “ ADVICE TO MQTlteßg Are you disturbed at night and broken of your rest by a sick child suit.-ring and erviUK with paiu ot cutting t.-.-tl. ’ |i so, seudat mice ftti-i get a hottk --t .\it;s Wixsi.ow's Sooth iNir ('iriLDKEN T'r - V'THI I x vtiluelsmcaleulable.
