A NEW MASONIC LODGE.
The Visiting Brethren Treated
Royally.
A few weeks ago application was
made by several brethren residing in
A aidosta, Lowndes county., to organize
a Masonic Lodge in that town. There is
already existence in Valdosta a L dge
kuowun as Mt, Tabor Lodge and is
prospering nicely, but the brethren of
the craft thought another one would
conduce to the good of the crait. Grand
Master W. E. Terry accompanied by
Bros. C. F. Vanterpool and Thomas
Walker visited Valdosta on Tuesday
October 23* and organized King David s
Lodge under dispensation.
A large number of brethren were
instructed into the mysteries of tile order
and the officers were installed as viz
Rev James Smith, W. M.
D Ward, S. W.
G G Boyd, J. W.
H B Sheiton, Treasurer.
G M McEacbiii, Secretary.
M Bowens, S. D.
T Hollins, J. D.
11. Deekle, S, S.
A Richardson, J. S.
A B Bowen, Marshall
Rev. A Gamble, Chaplain
G T. White Tyler.
The brethren speaks highly of the
kind treatment they received irom the
hand of Valdosta’s citizens. Grand Mas
ter Terry speaks encouragingly of the
future success of the order in south
western Georgia, and the sentiments
were fully endorsed by Bro. Vandea
pool, D. D. G. M,, and P. M. Thomas
Walker.
Democratic Managers Wont
Have Republican Super*
visors.
The managers or Justice whoever he
may be who has been ventiating his
views in the Morning News to-day. has
succeeded in making himself rediculous
while in the exercise of his brief author
ity. He has succeeded also in showing
that lie does not want the Republicans
to have fair play at the election, else
why he squirms so at the appointment
of U. S. Supervisors, His acts and in
tentions as expressed in the News will go
far towards convincing an already doubt
ing public that fair election are not
wanted by some men in Chatham county
This manager need give himself m>
concern about what the Republicans
will do. He should remember that this
is a national election and any interfer
ence on his part with United States of
ficers or voters may give him an oppor
tunity to answer for his conduct in the
United States Court.
This attitude on the part of the man
agers of election, who are all Democrats
in objecting to have the duly appointed
officers appointed by the opposite
party to scrutinize the management of
the election, wiil strike all good citizens
as being very suspicious to say the least
of it.
Two Hearts Made Happy.
Mr. Jacob A. Small and Miss Rebec
ca Brown were united in the holy bond
of matrimony on Thursday evening last.
Li ng before the app unte 1 hour the
F. A. B. church was crowded with
spectators snd friends. At 8 o’clock
the bridal party arrived, and in stately
form marched to the altar 'mid the ad
miring gaze of the audience. The
impressive ceremony was conducted by
Rev. E. K. Love; after which the couple
received the congratulations of friends.
The party then repared to the residence
of Mrs. Wallac 1 , on Gaston street, where
there was a fine display of presents;
thence to the Odd-Felffws Temple,
where the invited guests enjoyed them
selves ’till the “we sina hours.”
May you be happy and prosperous
friends.
