PILGRIM OVER DOUBLES
DEBIT
s g g g g as?
GEORGE S. MAYS, manager
Just a little over one and a
half years ago the Pilgrim
Health and Life Insurance com
pany Savannah district, invit¬
ed ridicule and criticism upon
itself by asserting that theirs
being a $900, district (smallest
in the city! was a matter of no
moment to them, that in a stip
ulated time they would more
than double that *900.
A new manager had just
been put in charge, a young
man. It was thought and said
that he could not do so. It
would never happen. He was
not that type.
Agents were ridiculed for
working for such an inferior
company and were requested
to come and work for a real
company. But the Pilgrim
kept on plugging; they planted
a crop of agents, took pruning
shears, as it were, and began
pruning and weeding out the
weaklings, retaining the hardy
ones constantly building, with
the result that under the lead¬
ership of this too young, wrong
type manager, the agency
force stands now at a par with
any Negro company or organ!
zation within the confines of
Chatham county. It is a force
comprised of men and women
who are capable of doing
things—big things.
The Pilgrim now has reached
and passed the $1900 mark and
is on the home stretch to the
*3,000 mark, all within the
time stipulated
The company is led by such
pioneer agents as George S.
Barton, J. F. Butler, J. W.
Marks and A. C. Siders and its
staff personnel, in addition to
Manager George S. Mays, con¬
sists of Rev. J. B. Mosley, Mrs.
Addie Underwood, clerk, and
Miss Mary Walls, cashier.
On Monday night, February
28, the company is sponsoring
at First Bryan Baptist church
a bible scenery, the first of a
series of biblical dramas to be
given by this organization.
