Miss Calantha Louise Adams be¬
came the bride of Reverend Isaiah
James Johnsen, D.D., at the bride's
home, 427 First Ave., Moultrie,
Ga., on October 4th at 8:30 P. M.
The marriage was solemnized by
the Rev. W. C. Davis, B.D., pastor
of St. Phillip Monumental A. M.
E. Church, Savannah, before a
white altar, traditionally of the
Episcopal church; flanked on eith¬
er side with gladioli and palms;

holding seven candles each. The
mantle was artistically decorated
with a golden-sprawn of pon-pon
chrysanthemums, alternating be¬
tween white tapers.
The bride’s gown was of white
lace, and her accessories were
white and her corsage was of or¬
chids. The bridesmaid, Miss
Rosina LaRue McCary, wore a

BUY DISCHARGED

Private First Class John Ruth
of Savannah, Ga., was honora¬
bly discharged from service
with the Army Air Forces here
today. Pfc. Ruth is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Ruth of
2305 Harden street, Savannah.
In May, 1942, he was sent over¬
seas with the Air Corps to the
C. B. I. theatre where he re¬
mained until his return to the
United States in March of
this year.
Stm-2c Marceilus Jones, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Byrd of
1809 Burroughs street, who is
in the Submarine service at
Portsmouth. New Hampshire.
He reports that he’s getting
along fine.

turned home last week after

the U. S. forces in the South

was honorably discharged
from the army early tms
month. On the occasion ol
his return home, he was greet¬
ed Tuesday night of last week
with a welcome party by the
Senior choir of St. Philip AME
church for which organ zuD m
he served as director prior to
going into the armed service.
The party was given at the
home of Mrs. Donnie Lomax,
509 W. Waldburg street It was
largely attended. It was high
lighted by an interesting pro¬
gram, a feature of which was
Mr. Spencer’s account of his ex
perlenccs in the South Pacific
war zone. An elaborate supper
was served by the hostess., Mrs.
Lomax, and her assistants.

Staff Sergeant Collins James,
the husband of Mrs. Mar¬
garet R. James of 507 W. Wald¬
burg Street spent the week end
at home celebrating their first
wedding anniversary. They
were married one year ago, Oct.
12th. Sgt. James is the son of
Israel James and the late Mrs.
Leona James. Mrs. James w'll
be remembered as M'ss Marga¬
ret Rachon Moore, the young¬
est daughter of the late Rev.
Charlie and Mrs. Anna Moore
of Tuskegce Institute, Ala.
Sgt. James returned to Daytona
Beach, Fla., where he is wait¬
ing Ivs discharge.

cles. Rev. B. B. Swinson, pastor
of the Payne Chapel Station Brun¬
swick, was best man.
After the ceremony, the bridal
party and guests were entertained
with a banquet at the local U. S.

Out of town guests were; Mes-
lames W. C. Davis of Savannah,
Mabel Green, Mary Blue, Vera
Massie and Miss Junior of Brun¬
swick. The couple is now residing
in the parish house at 1522 Wolf
St. Brunswick.
