On last Monday night, the
Mutual Benevolent Society, in¬
corporated, met at the home
of Mr and Mrs. Oscar Greene.
The meeting was called to or¬
der by President James Ed¬
wards. D vine benediction was 1
invoked by St. Louis Ponder.
Chairman L. S. Pr ester ren¬
dered an excellent report for
his committee and showed that
plans are afoot for an old
fash'oned, pre-war Mutual
picnic. Chairman John Mc-
'ntosh reported that the So¬
ciety will g ve again this year
i -cholarsh'p to a worthy grad¬
uate of Beach high school. This
is hi line with the civic work
of the organlzat’on which
drives to keep before Its mem¬
bers those things which will
make a better eommunity.
The guests of the evening,
were Messrs J. W. McGtockton,
Wallace Stewart, Julius Wil¬
liams and Rev. L. L. Scott,
each of whom made a delight-
ully happy speech. Rev. Scott
and Mr. Mclockton spoke In¬
terest'ngly of their work in
getting citizens to register.
Their remarks were revealingly
nformative.

Hub Issues
Voters Primer
The Hub, in its regular
luncheon meeting yesterday
discussed its coordination pro¬
gram for the remainder of the
Chatham county registration
period. It is hoped that all
qualified persons will be reg¬
istered before July.
Continuing in the role of
spearheading Negro registra¬
tion, the Hub has completed a
Voters’ Prmer which) is a

with voting procedures. These
primers will be in the hands
of members of the Hub and

The Hub is not currently in¬

SCOUTS PREPARING
FOR CAMP

ica is attending the Camping
and Aquatic School for Scout
Leaders at Greenville, S. C. He
is expected back in the city on
or about June 2, to make prep-
irat’ons for the summer camp-
ing sessions at Scout Camp
O'Hara on the Ogcechee road.
The camp will open on June
16 for a two weeks period of
camping for all troops of the
council. It has been reported
that Scouts from Okeefeenoke
Council at Waycross will again
be the guests of the local coun¬
cil at the camp.
Work has already begun on
the new swimming pool, ac¬
cording to J. L. Trottie, chair¬
man of the camping commit¬
tee. It will be ready for use
this summer. Among the other
improvements being made is
the adding of electricity. Many
scoutmasters have reported
large numbers of their Scouts
will be on hand for the open-
