Friends may think we have for¬
i gotten
When at times they see us
smile,
Eut little do they know tim
heartaches
Thai 'me sm le hides all the
while.
No one knows the silent heart-
aches,
Only those who have lest can
tell,
Of the grief that is borne
silence,
For the one we loved so well.
But memory keeps you ever
near us,
Though you died one year ago,
A face tha; is ever before,.
A voice we cannot forget.
A smile that will last forever,
In memory we see him yet.

For Public Information
Since the article appeared in last week’s issue of

The Tribune, headed—“Becomes Head Chorister

i ed so much concern to the public and my friends, 1
t feel that I would be doing myself, and my friends
1 an iniiistice not to make a statement.
T 1
I
t ? / was officially elected Organist of St. Philip Monumental A. M. E. Church in June,

made me Organist and Chorister of St. Philip Monumental A. M. E. Church.
T X back.
v In these positions I served my church well, if I do have to pat myself on the
j- I sserved under many pastorates. ‘ j j-

I I for my Even church during and the my love for Pastorate, music. l have which netted the church

I hundreds of dollars. For these above reasons, wouldn’t one think that I am due a
Y little consideration daring the church’s prosperity?
The erticle stated, further, that Mrs. Joyner had charge of the Sunday afternoon
programs sponsored by the Derst’s Baking Company for the last two years, but it fail¬
ed to state why and how she became connected with these programs. When 1 was
called into the Armed Forces I appointed Mrs. Joyner to carry on my work with the
Derst’s Baking Company until my return. 1 also left her in charge of the church choir.
Mrs. Joyner cannot be officially elected as “Head Chorister” of St. Philip Monu¬
ment/ M. E. Church Choir, because ! have not resigned, neither have 1 been dis¬
missed. The article also stated, “it was er roneously stated in the issue of the Savan¬
nah Tribune, November 7,” that I was Chorister of St. Philip Monumental A. M. E.
Church that 1 “was up until two months ago.” There is nothing erroneous about that
statement. I still am Chorister of the above named church, and can demand my pay
by law, for 1 have not been officially dismissed, and can’t be dismissed without a
hearing. I will admit that I have grievances, but why hasn’t a hearing been called?
What has happened to the Trustees of the church? Do they have any voice, or is the
church a “one man affair.”

Robert Spencer
