ban league report last week dis¬
posed a 67 per cent increase
in the NegVo population here
within a 15-ycar period.
Between tne years of 1930
and 1945, the report showed a
population increase from 327,-
706 to about 547,000. The in¬
crease was largely in Manhat- j
tan, where the Negro popula¬ 344,000,!
tion rose from 224,670 to
the Urban league said. In
Brooklyn the population rose'
from 68.921 to lRo,000, while
in the Bronx the population
increased from 12,930 to 31,000-
The number of Negroes in
Queens rose from 18,600 to 33,-
000 in 1945, the Urban league
report revealed.

rently staging a $450,000 drive
