The disappointed minister,
the Rev. Douglas Angel, is suc¬
cessor to the Rev. Frank White
who quit the congregation two
years ago after announcing he
was in love with a Negro wo¬
man in Norfolk whom he in¬
tended to marry. Rev. White
and Miss Ann\e Ai person of
Louisville, planned to marry on
January 30, 1946, but had to
postpone the marriage because
of technical reasons involved
in the fiance’s’ divorce from
her Negro husband.
Mr. Angel revealed that he
is “disillusioned with the min¬
istry as a whole, with his
church in particular and with
other churches in general.”
The young minister was
deeply disappointed when
white ministers here by-passed
an opportunity to take Negro
