The Butterfly's
Trail
By Albert Mary Thvvcatt
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
“What we call Luck is simply Pluck
And doing things over and over.
Courage and Will, Perseverance and Skill,
Are the lour leaves oi Luck's Clover.”
After a succession of gala events during the Holiday Sea¬
son many have gradually settled down to their regular routine
cf activities. . .Amorg me events on the Social Calendar dur¬
ing the past week were the Waldorl's Dance early Monday
morning, the Sigma Gamma Rho’s on Monday night, the
Allegroes on Tuesday, the Alpha Phi Omega on Wednesday,
the coiner’s Coattail t arty proceeding tns Woives on New Yeat s
Eve, the Eight and One Bridge Club’s meeting at the home
of Mrs. Rebecca Alexander and a Reception given by Misses
Madeline R. Shivery, Lula and Melinda Smith on Saturday.
There were also quite a few informal get-to-gethers at various
homes.
The Eight and One Club were hostesses to their husbands
and several couples as guests at a lovely party at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Frame Callen on Christmas night. Beauti¬
ful Christmas decorations and a huge tree with many strings
of lights, an attractive table laden with delicacies added much
to the gaiety of the occasion.
New Year's Day found many occupying pews in churches
of their choice. Here’s hoping that many of the traditional
resolutions made will be followed up instead of passing almost
immediately into oblivion.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Wolves on the occasion of
their twenty-fifth anniversary, their most elaborate and ap¬
propriate invitations, their befitting decorations, the congenial
atmosphere that prevailed from beginning to end; the hot
coffee and sandwiches and of course WoLVES MILK that was
most welcome on such a cold night. The Wolverines made a
beautiful picture as they stood around the table as hostesses .
And believe you me you couldn’t have imagined a more
charming group. They wore dresses either ol all silver ma¬
terial or elaborately trimmed in silver material, silver gloves,
slippers and a corsage of orchids- Their attire was natur¬
ally in keeping with the Silver Anniversary cf the Woives . . .
The Wolves really could hardly keep that possessive smile from
their faces as they glanced at their Wives. Must describe the
invitations. The outside cover was gray and featured a
silver wolf over which wasTventy-tifth Anniversary written
in silver, a silver design just at the left and tied with silver
ribbon. The inside of the invitation contained pictures of
the members, a history of the organization, the purpose, a
page featuring the Wolverines, the club song, and a page dedi¬
cated to their deceased members, Messrs. M. V/ade Simmons,
Martin Haynes. Toland J. Edwards and Lester B. Johnson.
The ball room was indeed like a forest. The hand painted
picture of the wolf that adorned the orchestra stand was so
realistic that it seemed as if a howl would come forth any mo¬
ment. The traditional snow man was at his post by the or¬
chestra. Orchids to the Wolves for a grand affair that will
lorg be remembered- Seemed like old times to see Naihanie.
Branham at the dance. He was the lirst lader and was also
the one who appointed a committee to bring in suggestions for
a name for the organization. “Nat” who spent the Holiday
Season with his family (Mrs. Anna Branham and Mr. and

Mrs. “Gus” Hayes and son) has for quite a years
u resident of Philadelphia. Pa. The first entertainment ot
the Wolves was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs D. J. Scott,
tor. The first Formal Raid was given at the Savannah Boy s
Club and has been a much anf-cipated affair ever since.
Congratulations are pouring in to the Jamersons, Sr., who
celebrated their Twentieth Wedding Anniversary on Decern-
her tweniy-sixih. By the way* two of the charming -adieo
who helped to receive Mrs. Jamer son’s guests were so busy
calling during the holidays that I could not get in touch with
them in time for list week's issue. Mrs- Marion mack Johnston
