The presence of Greek Letter Organizations on the campus
of Georgia State College, a slim possibility in the past, is now
Well on the way to becoming a reality. Quite a few interest
Groups have been organized with the hope that through well
gukled efforts and high aspirations they might some day join
accomplishments and valuable contributions have become
great assets to communities. The consultants for the interest
Groups are as follows: Alphas. Mr John Clemmons; Zetas,
Miss Madeline Harrison; Alpha Kappa Alphas, Miss Grace
punt; Deltas, Mrs. Emma R. Cunningham; Omegas, Mr. H. II.
Hamilton; Phi Beta Sigmas, Mr. W. H. Wortham; Sigma Gam¬
ma Rhoes, Mrs. Ida Belle Gadsden; Kappas, Mr. Shropshire. All
• groups will be controlled by a governing board. The Rushing
■Period now in progress will extend to February when pledg¬
ing will begin. Initiations will take place in April. The Alpha
Interest Group, the first to appear before the public delighted
a large and appreciative audience on last Fridray night in
Meldrim Auditorium They presented Mr. E. Carey Lamarr
in a program of Classic and Semi-Popular numbers on the'
piano and organ. He was assisted by Mr. James Fisher who
(rendered two groups of vocal selections with Mrs. Jane Parker
Starr as accompanist. This Interest Group, numbering twen-
ty, made a very striking and impressive appearance all garb¬
ed in Tuxedoes.

The 3rd Anniversary Ball given by the Mutual Benevo¬
lent Society at Lincoln Inn on last was one
the most beautifully decorated and jovial affairs that their
guests have ever attended. The decorations consisted of hun¬
dreds of yards of silver rope, Icicles and myriads of multicol¬
ored discs. A huge pennant with M. OB. S. formed of these col¬
ored discs and having 1875—1949 on it graced the orchestra
stand. A grand banquet preceeded the dance- Members of
the planning committee responsible for the decorations ana
•everything that went with it tto make an evening long to be
remembered were Messrs. Henry Singleton as chairman; Elliott
Sanders Sr., Harold Brown, Walter Bogan. Everett Stephens,
s John Polite. Douglass Taylor, J. H. Johnson, R. J. Geiger and
W. J. Smith. The center decorations by the way, were ar¬
ranged to represent a huge crystal ball. Beautiful palms
r formed an impressive background. Naturally the ladies in
ii 'their gorgeous evening gowns made the ballroom appear as a
* garden of flowers of every hue. Congratulations to this finel
I group of men. who, for these seventy-three years have car¬
ried on a comradship through several generations. They
1 boast both an'educational and civic department. The or-
'ganization is well balanced, (aged, middle organization aged and youth). the

odist Church were present. By the way. Mrs. Taggart and
Mrs. Curtright will serve as the first workers at the new Beth¬
lehem Center which will soon be opened in the building owned
by the First Congregational -Church on East Gordon street.
This center has been a dream of the pastor, Rev. A. C. Curt-
right, for quite sometime. The white and colored Methodists
of the city are cooperating with the Congregationalists to make
this center possible. It will serve children of all denomina-
tions in the city. Only trained workers will be employed.
Mrs. Taggart was formerly employed at the Bethlehem Cen-
ter in Oklahma City. Congratulations to all.

Cross Council on Thursday.

Auxiliary.
The council Is composed of
each of the Negro schools in
at least two representatives of
the county and is the govern¬
ing body for the Junior Red
Cross work in the schools. The
work of these representatives Ls
supervised by a teacher-spon¬
sor In each school, the teacher-

principal.
For the current school year,

great treat to its community
last Tuesday evening in its au-

before a capacity crowd. The
collection raised was $63.55 for
the PTA treasury.
