Each boy received a hand¬
kerchief and tie set, a tooth
bruih, comb, belt and extra
handkerchief and ice cream.
Through the matron, Mrs.
Nona Davis, who is a member
of the Rachel Moore Sunshine
Workers, the boys made known
their wish for a moving picture
machine. Acting upon a sug¬
gestion, a committee selected
one and asked the juvenile of¬
ficer, Mr. Williams, to look it
over. Mr. Williams and Frank
Callen thought the machine
would not give the service that
a better one, allowing for the
use of free or borrowed pictures,
would give. Mr. Callen, there¬
fore, has premised to look
ahead for a used one from New
York;-
If Judge Waring keeps on
rendering opinions in behalf
if justice like he has done in
the Negro vote cases in South
Carolina, lie is liable to fool
■ round and find himself on
the Supreme court some day.
(You’re right, junior, and we
are for it likewise.)

According to the 1048 edi¬
tion of “Accident Facts,” sta¬
tistical yearbook of the Na¬
tional Safety Council, accidents
claimed five times as many
lives in the 5-to-l,4 year group
in 1946 as heart disease, the
second cause df death. And ac¬
cidents killed six times as many
children in that age group as
pneumonia, the third place
In fact, the year book points
out that deaths from accidents
numbered more than deaths
both heart disease and
pneumonia combined.
