wonderful as a “sweet” to serv<
at tea time, or as a snack. It alsd
makes a grand dessert, wheri
served with custard sauce, lemod
sauce, or just cream.
Mock Banbury Torte
1 cup finely crushed corn flakes';
3 tablespoons flour; V* cup brown
sugar, firmly packed; 3 tablespoons
melted shortening. I
Yz cup raisins; 1 tablespoon lemon
juice; % cup prune juice or water;
34 cup granulated sugar.
Combine corn flakes, flour, brown
sugar, and melted shortening and
mix well. Cover bottom of greased
pan, 8x8 inches, with % of mix-
ture, pressing down firmly. Com-
bine remaining ingredients and I
simmer gently 5 minutes, stirring
constantly. Spread fruit mixture
over corn flakes in baking pan.,
Then cover top with remaining corn
flakes mixture; press down lightly,

20 minutes. Cool and cut in squares.j
Serve as dessert with custard
sauce, lemon sauce, or cream; or!
serve plain as a cooky. Makes 8
to 12 servings.
