Deacons Union Closed
Interesting Meeting
The Mt. Bethel Ministers and
Deacons Union meeting held
inspiring meetings throughout
the past week coming to a
close Sunday. This meeting
was held at Mt. Tabor Baptist
Church, Telfair and Ogeeche'
Ave.. where a very high service
was carried out. Mt. Bethel's
junior choir rendered the mu-
ideal selections to a very appre¬
ciative congregation. A num-
of visitors were present and
we extend a hearty welcome to
them at all times. We want
you to feel at home in our meet¬
ings. Total raised was $85.32.

FORD DIES
Word was riceived in the
city last week of the death o!
Wili am G. Westmoreland, fa¬
ther of Mrs. Bowles Ford, this
city, which occurred in Atlan¬
ta on July 28. Mr. Westmore¬
land was on? of Atlanta’s most
prominent citizens. He was a
retired mail carrier and a real
fstate dealer.
In addition to Mrs. Ford, he
is .survived by his wife, Mrs.
Clive G. Westmoreland;- a
daughter, Mrs. Ruth W. Hume
of Waslungton, D. C ; a son.
William Westmoreland, Jr., of
Detroit; two sisters. Mrs. Fred¬
erick Funde.tburg, Monticelio.
Ga.. and Mrs. Samuel Neal of
