Celestine Williams (Mrs. George) is having a grand time
visiting her sister-in-law, Mable and her hubby (Dr. and
Mrs Grilfin) in Thomasville. She will return to the city thid

Mis. Emily R. Mallard in Birmingham, Ala.
Rev. and Mis. Gustave Caution returned on Friday from
Wilmington. N. C. Margaret (Mis. Gustave) enjoyed her first
airplane ride while in Wilmington. She rode for twenty min¬
utes in the private phi le of Messrs. Robert and Wade 'Chest-
nutt. Inese two gentlemen are also part-owners of a seven
passenger flying plane. The other owner, Mr. Edward Gibbs, is an
airplane instructor. He was one of the instructors who
gave the 55th Squadruh their initial training at Tuskegee. By
the way, they hope to pay Savannah a visit soon to interest
Savannah’s citizens in Aviation.
Mr. and Mrs. He.:ry Moultrie have returned to their home
in Newark. N. J. (151 Spruce St.) after having spent a while
with their sister. Mrs. Mazella Sheliman. Mrs. Moultrie im¬
proved rapidly from the emergency operation.
Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Shelton and their 16 months old daugh¬
ter, Judith, of Detroit. Mich., arc in the city visiting their rel¬
atives, Mr.,. Charlotte Curley (aunt> and Mesdames' Irma Cal-
Icn. Agatha Cade, Rebecca Alexander (cousins). Mrs. Selton
Is a teacher there. She is a graduate of Talladega and a
member ol tne Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Accompanying
them as far as Talledega was Mrs. Simmons, mother of Mrs.
She;ton., who stopped for a visit with her mother who lives bn

Mrs. Irene McClean was the week end guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Jessie Brinson of West 42nd street. Mrs McClean who
hai.ed from Summertown, Ga. is a product of Georgia State
College and a noted teacher in her county
Mis Rosa Mae Perrin, teacher at West Broad school re¬
turned to the cuy on Monday morning after a five weeks vis¬
it m New York. Although she was called there because of
the serious illness of her brother, Mr. Robert Young, she was
able to enjoy herself immensely before her return because he is
on the road to recovery. Mrs. Perrin was pleasanty surprised
see a former classmate, Mrs. Eva Cheathem, whom she had
not seen in twenty-five years. Mrs. Cheatham and also many
other friends made Mrs. Perrin’s visit most enjoyable.
Mrs. Lilia Belle Utiley of Bayonlie, N. J.. formerly of Savan¬
nah has returned home after a very enjoyable three weeksi
visit with her mother and sister. Mesdames Sarah Pinkney and
Hattie P. Brown.
Capt. and Mrs. Leonard Taylor left last week for Wash¬
ington, D. C. because of the illness of Capt Taylor’s mother.
Hope by now her condition has improved.-

Congratulations “Bunky” is in the armv but his wife is re¬

MUSIC
Music lovers brayed the inclement weather last Sunday
to hear a concert featuring the Band, Choir and Glee Club of
Georgia State College. Over 500 were in attendance, this
number including about 000 4-H boys and girls. The affair
v’hlrh bad been scheduled for out of doors had to be held in
Meidrim Auditorium be^aus'' of the weather. Congratulations
to the directors and participants for a grand event.
Sister Rosetta Thorpe was the great, attraction at St. Phil¬
lip's church Monday night. Many of the 2 500 who attended
had to be turned away. Rev. Murph is a! iticipating a repeat
performance.
DEIFICATION
A large audience attended the Dedicatorial Services of the
new pine organ at S'.. Philip’s Church on Charles and West
Eroad streets. We heard that the organ costing over $10,000
is completely paid for Congratulations! Music for the oc¬
casion was furnished by the 50 voice choir under the direc¬
tion of Mr. W. C. Joyner with William Levy at the piano and
Mr. Peter Smalls at the organ.
SICK LIST
Mrs Amanda Carter is slightly improving at the Com¬
munity Hospital in WiJmmgton. N. C. Here’s hoping for her a
speedy recovery. . Mrs. E. W. Kight. President of the Council
of Georgia Congress of Parents and Teachers is slowly recu¬
perating at her home 4C3*E. Depot St La Grange, Ga. Mr. Ed¬
ward Sham v is is recuperating at home. teacher Chat¬
Mrs. Iona C. Fraiicr recently retired from

State College for most of the summer . Her former co-workers-;
sent her a surprise basket by Mrs. Pauline Hagins. Here’s
