DAVIS—A Tribute To My
Mother,
MRS. MAMIE L. DAVIS
who departed this life, Nov. 1,

MY ANGEL MOTHER
Some many, many years ago
An angel took a Light
It left the heav’ns and came to
earth
With soul all pure and white.
It traded its immortal form
For one unlike another,
And then—the strangest thing
occurred,
That soul became my mother
As davfns appeared and twilight
fell.
Her hands were there to guide
me,
To help me choose the paths of
life
And er e 1 faltered ' chide me.
But ah! so soon the evening
came
And with it hours of yearning .
To gain again her heavenly
home,
She dreamed of the returning.
No earthly pleasures then held
charm,
No matter how alluring,
She turned her eyes towards the
skies,
Etherial lights pursuing.
She slowly shorn the mortal
form
