First Aid Club No. 1 held its!
regular meetng at the home of
Mrs.* Elouise Lewis, 716 W. Bol¬
ton lane November 8th, with
President S. D. Bisard In
charge. Our president gave
a very good talk on First Aid,
high lights for the evening be¬
ing the five pressure points.
On the 27th of October was
the president’s birthday and a
jolly one for him. He receiv¬
ed a very nice gift from the
club; also a large birthday
cake, beautifully adorned with
candles for the occasion. This
affair was given at the home
of Mrs. Lula Mosley, 714 West
Bolton street. A very high re¬
past was served. At the meet¬
ing of Mrs. Lewis. 716 W. Bel¬
ton lane, the club was happv
to have as their guest, Mrs.
Sadie Johnson of Collins, Ga.

MRS. RIVERS DIES
SUDDENLY
The special program held
Monday night at St.
AML church was marked by a
tragic ending when, after the
last number, the pastor, Rev
H. W. Murph, announced the
sudden death of Mrs. Dora
Screven Rivers..
Mrs. Rivers was to have par¬
ticipated in the fashion show
and was next in line to enter
the auditorium of the church in
the review pf models when she
suddenly took iii and swooned
away. She was about to fall j
to the floor when she was !
cauhgt by several of those near 1 |
her. A doctor in the audi
dience was called and, observing
the seriousness of her condi-1
tion, ordered her rushed to the!
hospital. She was pronounced,
dead by the physician before,
the car reached there. The
cause of death was a heart at¬
tack.
Mrs. Rivers was bom in lived
terboro, S. C.. but had
Savannah most of her life. <
She was an ardent church
worker and a member of the)
Murph Gospel Chorus of St.
Philip AME church.
Funeral services were held
this. Thursday, afternoon from
the church with the Rev. H. W.
,
Murph officiating. The ^.id-

in charge of the anangements. j
Interment was at Laurel Grove j
cemetery. I
The deceased is survived by |
her husband, Allen Rivers andl
a brother, David Light of Wal-
terboro, S. C.
