townsley Chapel A, M. E. Church
feted their pastor, Rev. .J. P.
Lampkin, with a birthday-shower
on last Thursday night at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sears
on First Street.
The spacious home was beauti¬
fully decorated with fern, potted
plants, and cut flowers. A large
number of members and friends
greeted the popular pastor with
the Birthday Song. A most unique
feature was the Birthday Tree
containing leaves of currency pin¬
ned on all of its branches which
proved to be a neat purse for the
amicable minister and his family.
Many cards and gifts were receiv¬
ed. Felicitations were expressed
by representatives of the various
boards of the church and from
friends and co-workers. Mr. Sam¬
uel Brown spoke of the minister
as fellowworker in the govern¬
ment service, Mr. John Lyons as
i friend. Mrs. Dorothy R. Lamp-
tin charming wife of the minister
was presented a beautiful bouquet
if flowers. A delicious repast Was
served by members of the church.

The members of St. Paul C. M.
"-I. Church are well pleased with

Sunday was a most unusual day

bama State college and who has
done graduate work at Columbia
university and is a teacher at

services for Mrs. M. V. Herring¬
ton, grand associate matron of
the Granch Chapter of the

gia, were held last Sunday at
the Risley Auditorium. Mrs.
Herrington died Tuesday, Feb.
7th, after several months’ ill¬
ness.
The deceased was also a
