National Baptist Convention in
Philadelphia, Emmanuel Bap¬
tist, Brooklyn, N, Y. The Second
Union Association at Swansbo-
ro and is now making prepara¬
tion for the . Georgia Baptist
and Educational Convention of
Georgia which will convene in
Albany.

on October 20, Rev. I. J. John¬
son, presiding elder. Rev. A. D.
Powell preached the opening
sermon, text, Matthew 9:37-28,
‘Then saith He unto His discip¬
les, the harvest truly is plente-
uos, but the laborers are few.’
There were ministers and lay¬
men from every section of the
district present in this Harvest
Festival service. The presiding
elder called for reports of the
charges on their budget and the
sum of $1,043.05 was collected.
Dinnd.' was served.
In the afternoon session $88 -
S8 was taken up for the presid-
ing elder and his wife as a con-
ference gif.
After 7:30 p. m. worship Rev.
J. S. Bryan was the speaker,
using the text Psalm 8:4: What
Is man that thou art mindful
of him? and the son of man
that thou visitest him?’
The conference went on rec¬
ord as endorsing Dr. J. S.
Bryan, pastor of St. Philip's
AME church. Charles and West
E’. oad Sts . as Georgia's candi¬
date for episcopal "honors in
1952. This was done by a unan¬
imous vote of the eonfereee.
Dr. Bryan was happy to meet
some old members that he’d
pastored some 24 years ag6.
With remarks of apprecation
by the presiding elders for the
cooperation of the ministers and
laymen durng the past year,
the conference closed in a blaze
of glory.

The city-wide BTU will hold
its regular fifth Sunday assem-
bly meeting at the Second
Arnold Baptist church Sunday
afternoon at four o'clock. The

teacher. The affair is being
sponsored by several groups of
the church and is expected to
be an outstanding event. Mrs.
Mildred Hutchins and Mrs. El-
oise Frazier are in charge of
