dav. Aoril 2, from St. Benedict’s
catholic church, Father Cole-

nett street, after an illness of
75 years.
A native of Burroughs, Ga„
he served as prlnlpal and teach¬
er at Sprlngfied, Ga., for 19
"ears. Later he was tran-ferred

here, serving as assistant to

°1 years as a teacher he was
f orced to retire on account of
his health. He then did light

He Is survived by his wife,

daughter, Mrs. Helen S. Evans:

and Mrs. Nedla Haywood.

he pastored churches in St.
! Petersburg, St. Augustine, Gainesville, Day-
tona Beach and
Fla., before coming to Savan-
1 nah. He also attended Talladega
college, Talladega, Ala
A native of Oberlin, Ohio, Pas¬
tor Battle came to the South
Atlantic Conference of the de¬
nomination in 1948, He is ac¬
companied by his wife, also a
native Ohioan. Mrs. Battle is
an accomplished pianist and
former high school teacher,
having also attended Oakwood
college, majoring in elementary
education.
Pastor and Mrs. Battle reside
at the parsonage, 519 West 41st
street, and look forward to
making many friends in Savan¬
nah.

Jerusalem.” Two members were
fellowshlpped in the church.
At 4 30 a, m, Easter morning
services will be held at the

school will have charge of the

Friday night, Mrs. Marie
Singleton will render a concert
in behalf of the Aoril worker'.
Monday night will begin our
week of prayer. Revival services

The annual Easter program of
St. Matthew’s Episcopal church
school will be held at 0 o’clock
Sunday afternoon, in the main
auditorium of the church. In
addition to the readings by the
beginners, a vocal solo by Ber¬
nard J. Rosser, age 5, accom¬
panied by his brother, Harold
E. Rosser, age 8; an Easter can¬
tata. “Crosses and Fine Linen”
will be sung by the combined
primary and intermediate class¬
es. Parents are asked to get all
faster Mite boxes to church
school on Sunday morning. The
money this year will be used for
missionary work in Brazil.
