Marie Theresa Lancelin, daugh-
ter of Oliver Lancelin, of

hails from Savannah, Ga.. and

Savanamte and the late Frank
Best.
Mr. Lancelin gave his
ter in marriage. Her traditional
white gown, an adaptation of
the last ona made by her moth¬
er, was of lace and nylon
over bridal satin. The material
and style were the same with a
few additions. The fitted
was pointed In front and
net yoks wm beaded with pearl
and sequins. The sleeves were
long and fitted, ending in bead¬
ed petal point* over the hands,
and the bouffant skirt was
styled with an apron featured
at front which closed at back
and mat a long fanshaped
train, which was bordered with
folds of tha *atln.
Her veil of three tiers of ny¬
lon net wa* fingertip in length
and deepened from a duchess
crown of «tarched lace, em¬
broidered with pearls. She
carried a bridal bouquet of a
single white orchid, showered
with carnations and hyacinths,
on a mother of pearl prayer
book. j
Mr. Bast 1* a graduate of St '

Beach high of Savannah, and
took hi* undergraduate work at
Xavier university where he re-
celved his B.S. degree in busi-
ness administration in January
He is now employed In the clr-
culation department of the

had witnessed it. The music was
furnished by the Junior choir
of St. Nicholas, and Mrs. Lucille
Cornelius, organist.
The former Miss Lancelin was
attended by Miss Louise Mildred
Boudreaux of Rayne, Louisi¬
ana, a college roommate, as
maid of honor and the brides¬
maids were Misses
Marie Williams and Luvy
Catherine McElray. They wore
gowns of nylon net over
ta in shades of pink, yellow and
blue, respectively, made strap-
less and covered with lace
boleros, accented by high col-
lars. The bodices were fitted,
the skirts wide, and their duch¬
ess caps of nylon net over
taffeta, were embellished with
iace.

Best as best man and the ush
ers were Peter Lancelin, bVth-
er of the bride, and Leon Cor¬
nelius, a former roommate of
the groom from Chicago.
After the morning mass, the
wedding breakfast was served
at the home of the bride’s aunt.
Mrs. Evelyn Joseph. The re¬
ception followed at the Lance¬
lin home, 3416 Drew Ave., where
the couple lives witli Mr. Lance¬
lin at 6 p. m.
Mrs. William Frank Best, Jr.
is a product of the grammar
and high scrool departments of
st. Nicholas in Houston, and
graduated from the College of
Pharmacy at Xaxier university
in New Orleans, where she was
honored as the Senior Sweet¬
heart of Alpha Phi Alpha fra-
ternity and served as an
attendant in the junior court
for Homecoming. She is a mem-
ber of Alpha Kappa Alpha
sorority and is affiliated with
the National Pharmaceutical
Association.

The First African Baptist

group of junior deacons. This
group of men was selected by
the pastor to be trained for the
deaconship They have complet¬
ed an extensive study course on
deaconship.
The class was under the
supervision of Deacon Raleigh
A. Bryant, Sr. The theme of the
course was "Honoring the Dea-
conship,” from a study course
by Dr. P. E. Burroughs. The
class was benefited by the
teachings of some of the best
prepared ministers and deacons
in Savannah, both white and
Negro.
It is believed that this Is thej
frist time in the history of any
Negro church in Savannah
such a training course has been j
gj ven to prospective deacons,
