TAYLOR — In memory
>f my mother,
Mhi LAURA E. TAYLOR
who aied March 13, 1948
When tht humid shadows
hover
Over ail the stan y spheres,
And che melancholy dark¬
ness
Gently weeps in rainy
tears,
What a joy to press the
pillow
Of a cottage chamber bed
And to listen to the pattei
Of the soft rain overhead.
Every patter on the shing¬
les
Has an echo of the heart.
Many long-forgotten fan¬
cies
Into being quickly start;
And a thousand recollect¬
ions
Weave their bright hues
into woof,
As I listen to the patter
Of the soft rain on the
roof.
Now in memory comes my
mother,
As she used long years
agone,
To regard the darling
dreamers,
Ere she left them to the
dawn.
Oh! I see her bending o’er
me
As I list to the refrain
Which is played upon the
shingles
By the patter of the rain.
Sadly missed by
Your daughter,
Mrs. Veronica Taylor
