Our thoughts turn to the one
Whom God saw fit to call away
a year ago today.
He had no gold to leave us,
No chaplet of renown:
He was not rich in honors.
And wore no Monarch’s crown.
But there are precious jewels
More glorious than these:
A spotless name, a clean life,
And sacred memories.
