Church School Workers Honored A beautiful and impressive testimonial and presentation took place at Beth Eden Baptist church on Sunday morning just before the close of the ser¬ vice. Mrs. N. M. Mrs. Veidese Sims Curley Former Savannahiau Dies in Newburgh, N Staif Bgt. Alexander t Cokey t Sanders. 78, retired from the Cavalry Detachment at West Point, died on Monday. May 3. at his home, 218 Ann street. Newburgh. N. Y. after a long illness. He served 30 years with the Army’s Mounted troops, retiring on Jan. 13< 1928. He later worked at the old Wheel- man's Club in Newburgh. He was a veteran of guerrilla (fighting in the Philippine In- surrect'on in 1899. He was born in Savannah, Ga., but lived in Newburgh since his retirement from service. He was a member and past, master of Hebron Lodge of Masons, a member and exalted ruler of William E. Alkins Lodge of Elks, a member of the AME Zion church, a past com¬ mander of Hudson B. Moore Camp. United Spanish War Veterans, and a member of the 1 V.F W. , He is survived by his widow, | Mrs. Fannie T. Sanders; niece, Irma Ross. Hartford. Conn.; Grand niece, Inez Young, Sav¬ annah; cousins. May 8. 1954, at her residence, 627 Mercer St., in her 85th year after an extended illness. Mrs. Sims was a native of Charleston, S. C., and the widow' of the late Wil¬ liam M. Sims.
