HONORED — The faculty of
West Broad Street Sehool chose
Mrs. Rosemae Perrin, (on right
picture), as their teacher of the
year. On Friday evening of last
week she was pleasantly surprised
when the faculty presented her
r jargr basket of 1 lowers, consisting
of roses, large mums, gladioli, and
ferns. The presentation was made
by. Mrs. Hattie M. Jones.
Mrs. Perrin attended the West
Bboad Street School as an ele-
mentary student ,nad after teach¬
ing in Florida and in Camden
County for ten years, returned to
West Broad, where she has taught
for the past twenty-seven years.
She received her high sehool
trhinfflg at the Beach Normal
I industrial Institute, and holds a
Normal Diploma and a college de¬
gree from Savannah Static Col-
lege. Mrs. Perrin has done ad-
vanceil work at Atlanta Univer-

Benjamin Dcnsler’s seventh
grade class was in charge of the
assembly hour on last Thursday
af DeRenne School. The theme
of the program was “The School’s
Philosophy.” Members of the class
gave a summary report of the ac¬
tivities which are carried on in
tile clubs of the school. The class
laid Keen studying about the for-
ni{i! ion of volcanoes. To follow-up
tledi- study they made volcanoes
diliing the activity period in the
classroom. They displayed three
volcanoes during the assembly
hour. When the volcanoes erupted
the audience thought that they
wine : midst the islands of the At-
lalitie, Indian aid Pacific Oceans
where volcanoes occur frequently.

mothers, thrilled the audience
with a game, “Shadow Screen.”
Den 4, Mrs. Mozelle Collier, den
mother, presented a skit entitled,
“Creatures from the Bottom of
the Sea.” Dr. Henry Collier, Jr.,
den father, served as narrator.
The cubs, together with their den
fathers, William Brown and Dr.
Collier, built a beautiful sea scene.
Divers were on hand to go to the
bottom of the sea and bring forth
the many creatures found there.

DeRenne’s Sehool Council enter¬
tained the Inter-School Council on j
Iasi Saturday. The committees
of the council have worked out de¬
tailed plans for two worthwhile
projects: The science and art ex¬
hibit at the West Broad Street
Y. M. C. A.. April 30 through May
4, and a trip to Atlanta in May.
Mrs. Ehlora Marks is chairman of
the trip to Atlanta and Miss
Frankie N. Golden chairman of
the science and art exhibit.

Mrs. Perrin is the daughter of
Mrs. Josephine Young, (who cele¬

Perrin.

Drayton, are ill. Miss Kelsey
and Mrs. Smith are with us.
Mrs. O. Daniels spent several
weeks with us which we en¬
joyed.

pre-school round-up program have
been completed and the members
of the planning committee are now
awaiting a large attendance fur

er to those parents who have yet

Junes will be guest artist in
concert sponsored by Paulsen
School. The program will be held
at 8:00 P.M. at St. John’s Bap-
list Church.
Mr. Jon.-: was associated with
the entertainment branch of
special services during his four
years in the Army Air Force. He
has won several talent shows as a
civilian, and during his years in
the Air Force. He has organized
and presented talent shows for
the Community Chest, Red Cross,'
and other charitable organiza-f

one radio recital, and on several
local benefit programs.
Mr. Jones is a native of Sa¬
vannah, Ihe son of Mrs. I. V.

act comedy play entitled,
"Who’s The Boss,” and ii talent
show on Monday evening, to a
capacity audience. The parents,
