MONTGOMERY COMMUNITY HOUSE PLAY AREA IS DEDICATED The dedication of the new ground area that was built by County Commissioners for Montgomery residents was dream come true for them. dedication was held on last day afternoon with Judge II. Remarks were made by Register who is chairman of the playground division for the Chat¬ ham County Commissioners. Mrs. Cornelia Mclver, who was chosen as “Mother of the Year” for the community section, was presented a gift, Mrs. Marie Mclver the presentation. A musical selec¬ tion was rendered by the choir of the Williams and Williams Funeral Home. Mr. Hampton Jaudon, a reading; solo, “Bless This House,” Joyce Young, and musical selec¬ tions by Montgomery Community Chorus and Choir of Beulah Bap¬ tist Church: ;-j l > * Presiding over the affair was Robert Young. Mrs. Robert Young was general chairman. LOCAL MOLES ATTEND NATIONAL CONVENTION Moles Eunice Clay, Josephine Hubert, Marguerite Law and Nona Hopkins, accompanied by their husbands arrived in the city on last, Sunday night after spending the weekend in Winston Salem, N. C. They attended the National convention, of .the, Moles. Between 250 and 300 were in attendance— from as far north as Washington. D. C. and as far south as Sa¬ vannah. The theme for the convention was “International Week End” that was beautifully and effective¬ ly carried out in every instance.' A dance was given on last Fri¬ day night at the Y. M. C. A. hail- room. Several closed affairs were given. At one of the affairs jewelled silent butlers were given as souvenirs. The Savannah Chapter was honored by having two of its mem¬ bers elected as National Officers. They were Mole Josephine Hubert, who was elected National Secre¬ tary, and Mole Eunice Clay, who was elected Vice-President to com¬ plete an unexpired term. •rfte Links sent flowers to the Several of the Moles were ac¬ companied by their children. Ac¬ companying the Laws was little Virginia Louise, who had a grand time with her little cousin, Roselle Louise Wilson (Chickie), and other new friends. There were a swim¬ ming party and a weiner roast given for them. MRS. YOUNG HOSTESS AT TEA On Mother’s Day a delightful tea was given by Mrs. Magnolia Young of East Bolton Street. The affair was given for the benefit of St. James A.M.E. Church and was in charge of the young people honoring mothers. Mrs. Nancy Bryant rendered appropriate music during the evening. Mrs. Ethel A. Caffey, her house guest, poured tea from an attractively arranged table. The house was beautifully decorated with chry¬ santhemums and pot plants. After a delightful stay in Savannah, Mrs. Caffey left on Tuesday night for New York. WOLVERINES ENTERTAIN The Wolverines entertained their husbands on last Friday night with a barbecue at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Hayes. The evening was spent in a variety "f activities.
