Jehovah's Witnesses of the
west congregation met Friday,

asking the Dominican JFtepubMc

:f the movement there. Ac-
cording to the presiding minis-
ter, M. L. King, the lengthy
petition cited specific names
ind places of police brutality
that were personally authenti-
rated by eight of the ten
American missionaries deported
August 3 frem the Dominican
Republic. The missionaries re-
'ited their experiences at a
regional assembly in Baltimore,
where the petition was original¬
ly adopted August 24 by 33,091
of Jehovah’s Witnesses in at¬
tendance.
The petition was addressed to
Generalissimo Trujillo, ac¬
knowledged dictator of the Ca¬
ribbean republic, and named
the Roman Catholic Church as
sharing the blame for the
government’s action.
Reporting oh the atrocities
described in the petition, Mr.
King said, In one sector whole
families were taken to prison
and the male members of the
families were beaten senseless

hausted.”
Christian people all over the
world abhor such brutality as
this, Mr. King said. “We be¬
lieve freedom-loving people
