i Talladega Mayers in
fine Performance
The Talladega Little Theatre
Players, presented last Tours-
day by tne First Congrega¬
tional Church, gave a very
creditable performance of "The
C.adio Song” by Gregone and
Maria Martinez Sierra. This
play, directed by Ur. James
Hopson, is a somewhat difficult
venicle to stage.
In the local performance
which was given on the Savan¬
nah State College Campus, the
cast masterfully portrayed each
of the characters in this two-
aet drama of nuns who adop¬
ted a foundling. Particularly
worthy oi note were the cha-
motorizations of tne Prioress by
Otis Holloway, the Mistress of
Novices by Lydia Lewis, the
doe.or by Knighton
the poet uy Archie Epps, and
the Vicaress by Carolyn Burney.
Each handled his respective
roie with depth of understand-
mg and with a feeling for the
nuances of portrayal required
by the plot and the interre-
iationships of the
Miss Lewis’ voice r:„s especial-
iy rich in texture and helped
ur.derscore the meaning of the
play. The slugs, ,uyt was appro-
priatcly simple,. au.t the cos-
times exeejieqily conceived in
j ,. vei . y detail.
In spite of’ occasional v;eak
pots in diction and slow move¬
ment in tltej Set mid act, the
play was wed (Erected, and
was one of itaiw' Mtf btVt btJH to be pre-
seu.ed here by 'this
