The Sunday school lesson was
brought by Rev. R. F. Thomp-
on from the topic, "Christ in
the Likeness of Men.”
It was announced that the
New Year’s sermon, will be de¬
livered by Rev. E. G. Lane,
January 7. This day will also be
appreciation day for Rev. Lane
as 1st vice president. Sessions

was appointed as secretary for

Pre-Christmas service will be
held on next Tuesday at the
Emmanuel Baptist church,

mons. All three choirs rendered
music. Christmas service will be
held at 5 a. m. Dec. 25.
1st Evergreen Bapt.
At First Evergreen Baptist
c hhrch, Rev. E. A. Capers, min-
ister, Sunday school met at the
usual hour. All departments are
getting together in, preparation
for a Yuletide program on the
fourth Monday night. All pres¬
ent will receive a small Christ¬
mas token. The 11 o’clock ser¬
mon was delivered by Pastor
Capers, title, "Winning Forces
In Christian Work.” Our BTU
director, Mrs. S. M. Norris, was
in charge and W. V. Coleman
conducted a sword drill. All
officers were elected. Dea. Wha¬
ley shall- be group captain over
adults.

Mrs. Ruby L. Statham
Hagins, a native Savannahian,
died at her residence in Mt.
Vernon, New York, early
Thursday morning, December
12. after a brief illness.
Mrs. Elagins became ill in a
department store while shopping
on Wednesday evening prior to
her death. She was to have
sung with her church choir on
Thursday evening on a special
program of Christmas music.
Her sudden death was a com¬
plete shock to all who knew her.
The body was shipped to Sa¬
vannah for burial, accompanied
by a son and daughter and a
sister, Mrs. Rosa L. Edwards of
Washington, D. C.
Funeral services were held
Monday afternoon at the First
Bryan Baptist Church with the
pastor, Rev. R. M. Williams,
officiating. Music was rendered
by the church choir of which
Mrs. Hagins was a member
before moving from Savannah.
Brief remarks were made by
George Fuller, deacon, who had
known the deceased since her
Qhildhood. A letter was read
frem the pastor and members
of the Community Baptist
Church, Inc., of Mt. Vernon,
N. Y., to which Mrs. Hagins
had recently transferred her
memher^iip, that paid a high
tribute #> the Christian service
rendered by the deceased in
that church.
Interment was in Laurel
Grove cemetery with the Wil¬
liams & Williams Funeral
Home in charge of arrange¬
ments.
The deceased is survived by
her mother, Mrs. Rachel Stat¬
ham; a son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagins
of Mt, Vernon, New York; a
daughter, Miss Loretta Hagins
