10 Best Dressed Negro women
in the United States, ail wo¬
men prominent in social, cha¬
ritable. or civic affairs. Four

poll conducted annually by
NAFAD among fashion autho¬
rities throughout the country i

in the heart clinic at the age
of four studies were made and
because of the nature of his mur¬
mur and his illness there was dif¬
ficulty in deciding whether this
murmur was the result of rheu¬
matic fever, whicli although
possible at the age of two to

birth defect which could only be
corrected by surgery,
Freddie was then readmitted
to Talmadge Memorial Hospital
in Augusta and . in . July of - 1958 ___
he underwent "Open Heart Sur-
gery.’ In this operation an
artificial heart and lung which
Is a very expensive and inge-
nuous machine takes over Uie
work of the heart. The blood
ordinarily going to Freddie’s
heart was diverted to the ma-
•ehine and returned to his body
thus keeping blood out of the
