AME Church I

Father’s Day was observed
Sunday at St. Philip Monumen-I
tal. Attendance was large.
Pastor F. D. Jaudon delivered mes-'|

by the Progressive Choir and
the Gospel choir. The Sunday
School will have its annual pic¬
nic at Solomon’s Island Mon¬
day.
Bethlehem Bapt. Church
Regular services were held at
Bethlehem Baptist church last
Sunday with Rev. L. S. Stell. Jr.,;
the pastor, in charge. Five'
received the fellowship into the 1
church during the communion
services. The women of the
church will sponsor a 15 States
March for Women’s Day Sun¬
day at 4 p. m. Mrs. Alethia
Smith is women’s Day chair¬
man.
Church Of Christ
Services at the Church of
Christ, 1101 Cornwall street,

day. From July 6-19 there will
be preaching nightly at the
church beginning at 8 p. m. by
Rev. J ,S. Frederick from Rive-
ria Beach, Fla. Song service

minister, Evangelist Z. W.

College, Tyler* will be heard
during the week of July 5, un¬
der the direction of Gwendolyn

The choir of Bishop College,
Marshall, directed by J. Harris-

ing the week of July 12.
The concert choir of Wiley
College, also in Marshall, will
present its program during the

High Court Denies
Hearing
WASHINGTON— < ANP) —Th e
six persons convicted of con¬
tempt in 1S67 for cooperating
with segregationist John Kas¬
per in an attempt to thwart
school integration in Clinton,
Tenn., were denied a hearing
by the Supreme court last
week.
The men, sentenced to various
terms of probation, were accus¬
ed of threatening some of the
Negroes enroute to the school.
During the disorders, a white
minister, the Rev. Paul Turner,
was beaten.
