Pumpsie Green
Rejoins Red Sox
CHICAGO— (ANP) —Pumpsie
Green, Negro infielder, whose | j
assignment to the minor leagues j
by the Boston Sox recently
provoked a controversy, was re-
called by the parent club last
week.
Green rejoined the Red Sox
in Chicago as the Beantowners
opened a three giame stand with
the high-flying White Sox.
Green was in uniform but did
not get into the first game of
the series.
Several weeks ago the Boston
NAACP branch charged the
Red Sox management with ra¬
cial discrimination when Pump¬
sie was assigned to Minneapolis
of the Amercan Association. He
had made a good showing with
the Red Sox during spring
training. It is believed that he
will help the stumping Red Sox.
