McCullough Manuscript
Accepted
Frederick L. Gwynn, editor of
the Journal for the National
Council of Teachers of English,
has informed Dr. Norman V.
McCullough that his manu-
script entitled ‘ College - Wide
English Improvement” has
been accepted for publication,
Dr. McCullough is professor
of language and literature at
the college and is chairman of
the division of humanities as
well as head of the department
of languages and literature.
In this article Dr. McCul-
ough emphasized the work of
the College-Wide English Com¬
mittee in its effort to stimu¬
late greater language consci¬
ousness. He pointed out that
films were shown cn
usage at a regular
meeting; a student
fative wrote an article on lan¬
guage usage for the student
newspaper; and a list of errors
made by students and staff
members was compiled and
distributed. The result was that
the faculty and student body
have become aware of the val¬
ue of correct language usage.
